The way the Tanners act without ALF

In the episode "Stairway to heaven" when we get to see how the Tanners lived without ALF. What I don't get is that Lynn and Brian were so well-behaved and that they called their parents "Mother" and "Father" instead of "Mom" and "Dad". Did ALF really affected their way to speak to their parents?

No. Of course not. When they had nothing to put there own securitys in they put it in being something there not.

It showed the Tanners in an alternate life just like ALF. Therefore, they would have different personalities.
