The Unaired Pilot
Hi.
I know that the Alf Unaired pilot is included on the first season dvd as part of the special features. Does anyone out there know if it is available to watch online? I know that Hulu has all the episodes from the seasons. But, what about the pilot?
You know, it's kind of strange to call this a pilot when actually it includes a few minutes of footage not included in the first episode of Alf. Plus, I guess you could call this the complete uncut version of the first episode of Alf. After all, there are pieces of dialogue in it not included on the first episode on disc 1.
Please let me know about the possibility of online viewing of the pilot. Thank you very much.

Re: The Unaired Pilot
Makes sense to call it the unaired pilot because that's exactly what it is. I'm happy they made the changes, but I still really enjoy it.

Re: The Unaired Pilot
Really? If that is true then I have seen 3 different versions of the "aired" pilot episode.

Re: The Unaired Pilot
Yes there are - original broadcast, dvd unaired pilot and the syndicated pilot.melmacian56 wrote:Really? If that is true then I have seen 3 different versions of the "aired" pilot episode.
The unaired pilot has a different actor playing the ATF officer. no intro before the credits. different fonts on titles. very different first 10 mins.
Re: The Unaired Pilot
I hate to burst everyones Bubbles but i taped All 104 episodes on VHS tapes and this is the 1st episode from September 22 1986. Mine has a small glitch just before Willie tells Brian to Enjoy the Cosmos, But this is the episode.
FYI, it was aired on September 22 1986.

THX2187,
Perhaps you may want to check the air remaining in your bubble, since there were only 102 (not 104) "aired" episodes of the ALF sitcom which you could have VHS taped when NBC originally broadcast the show.

Re: The Unaired Pilot
OK you're right, The air in my bubble appears to be a little Thin, there were only 102.Perhaps you may want to check the air remaining in your bubble
But i have that episode on my #1 VHS Tape.
So lets take a look at the Miniscule things they did to call this an UnAired Episode
In the UnAired Episode
Alf says to Brian as there walking into the kitchen
this sentence was deleted for the NBC PilotShe doesn't trust me as far as she can throw me
In the UnAired Pilot
In the bath room where Willie says to Alf, "We've got to talk" and Alf says
In Unaired pilot and in NBC pilotYeah, Lyn and i got to gabbing last night and
So if we all really think about this
1, 3 second sentence was deleted in all, and the bath room scene was in Both.
There were Technically 3 seconds taken out, This was NBCs Pilot Episode
I could understand them calling it an Unaired Pilot if there were 5 or 6 scenes taken out, BUT 1 Voice over
btw, if the rest of the episodes were in the same shape as
then i see NO reason why (Syndicated Versions) had to be substituted.(The UnAired Pilot)
Re: The Unaired Pilot
No, this is all completely wrong. The link posted to a video here on the forum IS the actual aired NBC pilot not the unaired one. The unaired pilot on the DVD is a vastly different episode, follows the same plotline but there are serious differences - some completely different scenes.
A few people are getting confused because hey have seen the syndicated pilot and are thinking the original unedited NBC one is the "unaired pilot". It isnt!

Re: The Unaired Pilot
THX2187, the link for the video above is the aired NBC pilot. HERE is the unaired pilot...watch it and weep:

Also pay attention to the image below (the font below for "ALF" is ONLY in the unaired pilot).
Again, there are THREE pilot episodes.
1) Aired NBC Pilot
2) The SYNDICATED pilot (same as above but with a few things cut out)
3) The UNAIRED PILOT...link above of course.

Re: The Unaired Pilot
Maybe THX2187 should get the R1 DVD of season 1.
