Lions Gate hasnt lied - that "REAL" original unaired pilot IS on the DVD's, on disc 4 i think. The second one you link to is the original broadcast episode one from NBC. The reason why you are getting confused is that the episode 1 on the DVD is the syndicated version, not the original broadcast version so you don't see the full opening scene and voiceover with Wille and Brian. All the main episodes on the DVD's are cut down versions for Syndication.

Thank you for posting this, I had never seen it before. So to sum it up, how many versions does this pilot episode have? The one that was aired, then this one, and the syndicated version. Have I left something out? :)

I think you covered them all.

1) Aired pilot
2) Syndicated pilot
3) Un-aired pilot

When i bought The American DVDs and found Butchered Episodes i returned it before i got a chance to watch
The Unaired Pilot on the Season 1 DVDs. I've looked everywhere for this Unaired Pilot and it is Nowhere to be found, except on The Season 1 set.
I do know that the episode above is not the Aired Pilot as some are saying,

Makes sense to call it the unaired pilot because that's exactly what it is. I'm happy they made the changes, but I still really enjoy it.

Thats the aired pilot, unedited nbc version

each has some scenes that are not included in the other.

The scene in the above episode, where ALF, Brian and Lyn are going into the kitchen to give ALF a dented Cat Food Can and ALF says "trusts me about as far as she can throw me". Voice Over Deleted from NBC Airing

The scene in the Aired NBC Episode in the bathroom where ALF says to Willie, "What is it about that guy Lash you don't like" Willie says "What are you talking about". Scene Cut from Episode above.

Alfs answer makes no sense in the above episode
Willie says, "We have a little problem we have to discuss" Alf says "Well Lyn and i got to gabbing last night and"

Makes one ask, so what's the problem?
The answer is simple, if asked like this....

Willie says, "We have a little problem we have to discuss" Alf says, "Yeah, What is it about that guy Lash you don't like"
Willie says "What are you talking about". Alf says, "Well Lyn and i got to gabbing last night and"

My Apologies to All and i'm done
