WTB: ALF Magazines and ALF Newsletters

Post by Admin »

I am missing a few ALF magazines, so if you have any for sale please let me know what you've got (I think I'm missing 2-3, but I'd have to check which ones). I am also looking for issues of "Extraterrestial Times," the newsletter of the ALF fan club.

I have a couple of ALF mugs and some comic books I could trade as well.

The ALF Magazines with posters intact are very high up on my list over things I want to get for my collection as well. There are some on Ebay now but at ridiculous prices (20 bucks each.) I wish they'd pop up more often.

I need a couple more to complete my set. I too noticed the high price on eBay - I even emailed about the $20 magazines, but the guy insisted (rather rudely too) that they are well worth what he is asking. Uh, when some of the biggest fans in the world won't even pay the price then they are probably too high :)

Yeah, don't you just love it when sellers act like they know the value of things they are selling more than actual collectors? I come across it all the time. Often times all they need to do is search for what they are selling on Ebay and they will see that their items are not "rare" and shouldn't be so highly priced.

How many were there? Im going to scan the ones I have as PDF files and put them up to download on my site this summer. You can grab them from there if you want them. :)

Sounds great, thank you! As far as how many there were, I have no clue :(

I'm still waiting for the day when someone posts a stack of them on eBay! (though I'm assuming it would be a small stack)

Thanks! I remember hearing somewhere (Mike, perhaps?) that there were not many. I should do a search here at the forum...see what pops up. Too much info here to remember it all

I just found 4 issues and have seen covers for another 2 so maybe 6 issues sounds about right.

I just did some re-reading of this thread...are we talking about the newsletters or magazines? Magazines there are 8 total:

WINTER 1989 | SPRING 1989 | SUMMER 1989 | FALL 1989
WINTER 1990 | SPRING 1990 | SUMMER 1990 | FALL 1990

As far as newsletters I have no clue...

Oh, I was right on the money then, 8 issues. Such a shame they started publishing so late, I would have liked more issues. I wonder what the eight issue had in it since ALF had been cancelled by the time it was released. Perhaps they were working on it long before the cancellation.

I think they are talking about both. The magazines and then the Extraterrestrial Times newsletters.

A note of caution to those buying on e-mail: make sure the magazines are in the conditions you are willing to buy. I bought a lot (i.e., group) of ALF items on eBay a few years back featuring some of the magazines, but most of them did not include the posters and they were not in the best of conditions.

As for the Extraterrestrial Times, I have no idea how many were published either, I have three: One from 1987, another from 1988, and then 1989 (this one is published in color). My favorite ET Times is the 1988 publication because it features the story of ALF going to the White House while Ronald and Nancy Reagan were in office. ALF met with the children of dignitarians and read them the poem "The Night Before Twangle".

I will look at what I have magazine-wise and see if there are any I could part with. I will describe them condition- and content-wise to the best of my ability. If anyone wants them they can let me know.

Yes, first thing I look for when I see an ALF magazine on Ebay is if the poster is still intact. I don't need the magazines to be in perfect condition, just good enough for me to be able to read it without being afraid of ruining the current condition it's in.

I bought some bags and boards the other day that fits perfectly for these magazines, so I really have to get them ASAP. As for the ones you might be willing to part with, I'll give first dibs to Jeremiah since it is his Wanted ad.

Currently looking for just the Fall 1990 ALF Magazine (found one on eBay, but won't pay $25 shipped for it...outrageous, lol). Still looking for any newsletters I can get my hands on :)

Thanks!
