Production #1009 - 24 Nov 86

On Willie's 45th birthday, he reflects on the goals set for himself 20 years ago and is sad to realize he hasn't achieved any of them, so ALF encourages him to fulfill at least one - - skydiving! In a dream sequence, Joe Namath (as himself) makes an appearance as Kate's handsome, macho, athletic ex-boyfriend.

Written By: Gary Markowitz
Directed By: Peter Bonerz

Guest Cast: Thomas Callaway (Animal)
Michael Lemon (Nolan)
Ivan Bonar (Dean Houseman)
Joe Namath (Himself)
Clyde Kusatsu (Sky Diver)
Tim Rossovich (Instructor)

Title: The episode title could allude either to the song "Jump" by the Pointer Sisters or the song "Jump" by Van Halen, two entirely different songs, both released in 1984.

I personally consider this one an "average" episode (not at all bad, but not up there with the best episodes). Joe Namath as a guest star really saves this one for me...though that is coming from a die-hard NFL fan.

The dream sequence was pretty cool, I must say.

Agreed, this episode receives my very first 3-star rating for this season. It's a strong 3, but a 3 nonetheless. I'm not a big fan of episodes with dream sequences and "what if"-scenarios being played in character's minds. Sometimes they work out, many times they don't. Like most times this happens in an ALF episode, this falls somewhere in between. It's amusing but not as funny as the rest of the episode. I believe Hail to the Chief has the best dream sequences on any ALF episode.
