ALF Movie: what merchandise are you looking forward to?
Now that the ALF movie is going ahead I was interested to know what merchandise you hope will be produced?
For me it will be figures and fast food toys

I would love to have a few t-shirts to wear. I got the ALF in Space shirt a few years back when the talk show was on and loved it (until I lost it during a move - must be in storage somewhere).

I'd love to see new ALF plushies sort of like the original ones. It'd be nice to have one. Maybe even a Build-A-Bear style ALF that you could dress up, too. Perhaps we'd even get a complete DVD set of the ALF cartoon show (wishful thinking).

Definitely a talking ALF doll like they had back in the day.
Also some stuff ALF movie might stem like the release of uncut ALF episodes or a blu-ray release (highly unlikely but stranger things have happened).

Re: ALF Movie: what merchandise are you looking forward to?
I am just excited for the movie. I can't really say that there are certain merchandise that I'd want to see. Most were done when the show was still on the air. I feel that the more you merchandise something, the quicker people become tired of it.
The one thing I would like, however, would be a video game. The only one that I remember was the one for the Sega Master System and it was not a very good one.
I'd be happy with a simple downloadable game on XBLA or PSN that would be fully voiced by Paul Fusco. I see this as a very unlikely scenario, but I can dream.

Some plushes would be awesome, and some genuine action figures with accessories are high on my list. But any ALF merchandise is good.

I use to play the Commodore 64 ALF game...always had a blast with that one! Never played the SEGA game, so I have no clue if it's the same or not. Anyone know?

I think it's different. I have yet to add it to my collection, unfortunately.

While a Wii game would fit the demographic, Nintendo has pretty much moved onto the Wii U. Since the new system will be on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3, it'll only make sense to release it on that system as well though.Admin wrote:^ A Nintendo Wii game would be neat as well!
The great thing about video games is that the actors just have to record lines. Think how easy it would be to get Max Wright on board since all he'd have to do is read some lines which shouldn't take more than a day. They did the same thing with Ghostbusters. Bill Murray has stressed that he has no interest in another movie, but he voiced his character in the video game. Even though Max Wright has aged, the Ghostbusters game proved that age didn't have a big effect on how the actors sounded so the game picked up only a few years after the second film.

What is a Wii U? Never heard of it before.
Bill Murray is actually open to the idea of a new movie if the script is good enough.

The Wii U is essentially a Wii HD with the graphical capabilities of an Xbox 360 and a tablet as a controller. The tablet has a touchscreen that is a little over 6" but also has all normal control inputs such as 2 analog sticks, triggers, and face buttons. It can also use the Wii Remotes so there is no need to buy new ones. It's kind of a cool concept but I don't believe it'll sell as well as the original.ALFicionado wrote:What is a Wii U? I saw the interview with Bill Murray on Letterman. I shouldn't have put "no interest", but rather that he doesn't want to do one unless the script is just right. I don't know how that's going to happen though. The original was a classic and they've aged so much that it'd be hard to really go back. The only way I thought it could work would be as a movie where they hand the business off to a younger group. That way the franchise could also move one.

A new ALF video game might be cool.
It would also be great if it leads to a full release of the cartoons and uncut episodes of the original show.

Re: ALF Movie: what merchandise are you looking forward to?
That's actually what they've been planning to do for years, and I absolutely hate the idea. Most Ghostbusters fans seems to. I don't want to see any other main characters in a Ghostbusters movie and certainly not new ones completely without the old gang in a fourth one. I'd be happy with the movie franchise ending with a third and less happ when Hollywood decides to remake the original some years later.Worm Raider wrote: The only way I thought it could work would be as a movie where they hand the business off to a younger group. Re: ALF Movie: what merchandise are you looking forward to?
I completely agree that the Ghostbusters aren't the Ghostbusters without the original cast. I was kinda upset when rumors were swirling that Dan Aykroyd was considering recasting Peter Venkman. I would've refused to see that movie. However, I am starting to understand why a 3rd film might not be a great idea. We have seen so many franchises recently bring out movie sequels 15+ years after the originals and they usually don't hold a candle to those films. As much as it used to frustrate me that Bill Murray was the holdout, I understand his hesitation to go back. Ghostbusters will always be a classic and I find it unlikely a 3rd film will do it justice.
Of course I say that, but I'll be there opening night if it ever does happen.

This is way off-topic but I agree the third Ghostbusters film is unnecessary.
