Great work, that is really awesome. Has anyone tried to contact the real estate agent who sold the house to possibly get better photos or photos of around the house. This would be great for all us fans.
I personally would have travelled to this house site to get a photo taken but unfortunately its too late. Well done though, this made my day!
Makes me wonder if the original owners knew the house was from the show.

Was just going to ask the same thing. Can't believe they tore it down!

Amazing find, Rafal. I visited the site this past weekend and the entire house was indeed torn down. :( I took some pictures of the house that is there now. Such a shame. http://www.iamnotastalker.com/2013/09/10/the-alf-house/

So sad the Tanner household no longer exists :( I am very glad though that the mystery was finally solved. I wondered for so many years where the house was actually located. Kudos to our Sherlock!

RafalBB wrote:You're welcome. I used to watch Alf when I was a kid back in early 90's in Poland. Now, 20 years later I live and work in the USA, and yesterday I felt the "urge" to see one episode. Well I got sucked into it again :) I'm currently watching season 1 episode 14  Lots of memories.

Anyway, I was watching one of the first episodes and started to wondering where is that house located. Quick Google search brought me here, where I've found Tedm's post about Pacific Palisades. The rest is history, over 10 hours of watching Alf and searching simultaneously google maps on the second monitor. The clues were:

- house is located near a road with sidewalk separated by road verge (strip of grass)
- terrain appears to be relatively flat
- dense tree canopy with some pretty old trees
- Tanner's house has a very steep roof slope (visible in Google's aerial 45' photos)
- green window frame and the door (and still was like that in 2012!)
- a hedge next to a house

Based on that, I was just picking streets that meets criteria (sidewalk, grass, terrain, trees) and going up and down looking for a steep roof and general "L" shaped house footprint. Fortunately there's not many houses with roof like that over there. I've found maybe a dozen buildings that meets majority of my criteria, before I've found the right one. Each time, a quick look in street view revealed the truth. Anyway, when I finally saw it I knew instantly, that was the one! Almost nothing have changed since the '80 over there. Sure the trees grew bigger, but house looked exactly the same!

Now... it kinda sucks it's not there anymore. I was a couple of months too late :x .

...This is the impressive 'hunt' I've ever witnessed online.

Hey,
I am a young ALF fan who has also interest in programming, I am actually from Germany and I am on an exchange year in the states. Anyways, I am starting to get better in the MAC and Apple language Objective-C - what is also used for Apps on the Iphone. So I thought about using this year to create an ALF adventure game app, but I am still missing a lot of pieces... :(
I (for example) have no Idea if I should make it a open world or an "old school" 2-D game, btw as a background I thought about ALFs adventures in the Tanners house, some mini games and bringing some of the episodes to re-play it, but also taking community ideas for new episodes and stories. I also could need things as like as the footprint of the Tanners house - next to school, I have not much time left to watch all the episodes and write it down by hand...
So what do you think about a game like that, would you play it? :P
I am looking forward for feedback...
All good
