I have a question about ALF, I have always wondered, is he a puppet, or a short person in a suit?

ALF is an Alien Life Form from Melmac!

OK, now that I have that off my chest: Sometimes a little person was used, but normally a puppet. When you see full-body ALF he is a little person, but when he see chest-up he is a puppet.
