I believe this was the first banned member on this board? Anyway, good riddance. If rules and structure were not liked by this member, the ban was the right thing to do.
i agree completely! :D

I just got done watching this ep. for the first time (that I can remember, LOL!) Man, why didn't anybody warn me to have a Kleenex handy?! I got SO choked up during the scene at the table, and when Kate hugged ALF right before they left. Brian's "Dad, do something!" at the end broke my heart. As sad and heart-wrenching as it was, it was def. one of the best of the series, IMO. I always liked it when the Tanners admitted that, despite all his flaws, the trouble he caused, etc, they really did love him and he was family. My only complaints were that more characters were not at the farewell party (e.g., Niel, Dorothy, Jake, etc) and of course the cliffhanger ending. But I can understand about the last part b/c it wasn't intended to be that way. I wish they'd just had him go with Skip and Rhonda so that you could imagine him living happily somewhere on his new planet, rather than ending up in the hands of the Alien Task Force. That's a bit of a letdown, now that I think of it.

Even though I don't remember much of the Project ALF movie, nor do I even think I liked it much, I want to see it again just to find out if I'd like it more now.

I totally agree, the cliffhanger ending was a brilliant idea in my opinion. It just sucks that it didnt go off as planned. I'll tell u something that really made the last episode make me cry.....it was that music at the end...it was so sad and emotional. If that music wouldnt have been added, I don't think the ending would have been as emotional.

melmacian56,

The cliffhanger ending to "CONSIDER ME GONE" was apropos considering all of the unanswered questions about the future of ALF at the end of Season Four, but it was by no means a brilliant idea, in that popular dramas of that time had been ending their Seasons in that manner for several years. Think "Dallas" and "Knott's Landing", as examples.

Why wouldn't it be a brilliant idea? It's storylines like that, that draw ratings. If there would have been a Season 5...the talks about the shocking part 1 would probably gave enough time throughout the summer for it to spread to gain some viewers back to see what would happen to ALF. Hopefully that makes sense. From the way I see it, it was done to boost the franchise to new heights.

melmacian56,

I wish your fantasy could have been true, but for those of us old enough to have experienced the uncertainty and conflicting news reports surrounding the ultimate demise of the ALF TV series, the Spring/Summer of 1990 was not a happy time.

melmacian56,

With all the turmoil surrounding ALF as the Fourth Season came to a close, nothing was certain, and nobody had, or was providing, any answers.

As problems (casting/storyline changes and contract dispute between Alien Productions/NBC) continued unresolved, by md-Summer 1990, I started preparing myself for the odds being no better than 50% that ALF would be on NBC schedule for the new Fall season.

melmacian56 & melmac_alf,

Sorry for the confusion. I'm blaming the mixup on senility at my "old age". Not sure how I got confused, since I doubt the two of you even look alike. HA!

Can I get any credit for at least being consistent, for once I made original mistake, I didn't change thereafter.

Original posts have now been edited to correctly indicate my response was to melmacian56, and not to melmac_alf.

You're right, at least your consistent. :) No problem, as alf would say I just wondered what was up.
Take it easy and get more naps, isn't that what older people need? j/k ;)

Project: ALF is not available in any Swedish retail shops, however you could always buy it on Ebay or amazon where you can find it at a reasonable price.

Then I personally think you should wait instead of having the end of the movie spoiled before you see it.
