I would like your opinion on a favicon...

Hi everybody - I would just like to get your opinion on something.

I am currently adding a "favicon" to the website. What is a favicon? It is the image directly to the LEFT of the URL in your Internet browser. I just uploaded one to the index page of the website (it is on no other pages)...

http://www.alftv.net/index.html (it will be to the left of the URL in your Internet browser).

Please let me know what you think. Overall - I like it, but am debating whether an image of ALF would be more appropriate. The only downside is that the image would be so small that it would be difficult to tell what it is.

Also, if you use Internet Explorer I don't think you will see it (IE is weird)...if you are using Mozilla Firefox you will though.

Personally, don't see where any value is to be gained from addition of "favicon" to URL, since nobody ever pays attention to them, and (as stated by you) "favicon" will not even appear when using IE which is still very much the predominant browser.

After re-reading my post I completely neglected to mention something.

The favicon does not show up to the left of the URL in Internet Explorer, but when you add to the website to your "Favorites" that favicon will show up - if you have a large list of favorites the favicon easily stands out.

Serious ALF fans most likely have an "ALF Folder" in their Favorites/Bookmarks, so favicon would still not be seen until I open the Folder containing my select group of ALF sites listed in alphabetical order.

I like the idea, I usually take notice in those things. Though a small ALF pic would be better IMO.

I think i knwo what your talking about. I think you should put a mini pic of alf. or a space ship.
