Thanks for the hint. Math was one of my best subjects in school, so after several hours of computation, I have arrived at the answer. Forty-seven (47) must be be the answer.

SORRY! YOU SHOULD BE SORRY! After all the time and effort spent, I was devestated to learn my last answer was wrong.

Bruised, but not beaten, I am not giving up. I have concluded that the photo appearing in your "Sorry" reply must be another hint. The cat is thinking 5 + 2, so using my option to "phone a friend", I learned that the resulting sum is 7. BUT everybody knows that cats have have 9 lives. I struggled with 7, or 9, being my next answer, when I was struck with the realization that both 7 and 9 are too obvious. Irrefutable logic leads me to believe the correct answer must be the number in between 7 and 9.

My new answer is now eight (8).
