ALF script on Ebay

Post by ALFicionado »

A script for season 1 episode Weird Science is being sold on Ebay. Is anyone here good at knowing whether it's legit or not? Picture:

The seller claims he/she got it from a paper box lot. You also get an autograph with the purchase that is dedicated to Cyndy (same autographed picture most of us have gotten from Paul Fusco)

Also, how many scripts do you think was given out for every episode, which crew-members got one other than the actors, producers, writers & directors? Just trying to see how rare these official scripts are, and how likely it would be that one finds its way to Ebay.

I have no real thought on who all got the scripts, but I have seen several just like this show up on ebay over the past couple years. No clue if this is legit or how to tell if it isn't in my hands. I guess it is a risk, but I was thinking about grabbing it depending on ending price.

Majority of the scripts on ebay are just xerox copies, not sure about this one.

I think all of the scripts were Xerox copies of the one original script for that particular episode. My curiosity is whether there is a way to tell if the thing is a copy of a copy and indeed not one of the cast/crew members actually scripts. I hope this make sense.

Good point, I assume that all the scripts used on the show was copies of the original of course, whether this is a copy of a copy should prove interesting.

How would you be able to distinguish that? Who would possibly have the original script for each show if they still exist? The last script that I saw on ebay had a purple cover on it instead of orange.

I didn't mean the very original, I meant those that were printed off the original and given to the rest of the crew.

I wonder if there are any other colors that has been seen on these scripts being sold on Ebay?

This is a guess ... but that does not look like an actual set used script to me. It's possible, but i think its more likely that is a xerox of the script just taken from studio archives, could either have been made at the time or maybe a more recent "copy of a copy". The actual cast used scripts would not be in that good condition, and their name was stuck on the front cover with a white label. I have only ever seen one or two of these ever sold on ebay. It's still interesting though seeing what was in the actual script and especially from such a classic episode. Hope that helps!

I believe this to be a crew script and not a cast script. I have a friend that made props for movies and he said it isn't uncommon for a script of this age to be in this good of condition.

Still no clue if it is 100% authentic from back then though.

someone bid twice, than someone else bid a couple times, then someone bid three times. Max bid on it was 100 from me.

The script has some history for me and I will tell that story later.

40 bucks is a decent amount for such a thing in the collection. If I had the cash I'd definitely fight for it.
