Discuss anything regarding ALF on the Internet here. If you have a favorite ALF site you want to share, or even an ALF YouTube video this is the place!
I haven't seen this posted anywhere else or mentioned anywhere on these forums. I'm sure most of you already know about this, but there used to be a Gremlins themed ride in a Warner Bros Themepark located in Germany.
Ride Summary
The ride begins with you and your fellow visitors filing into a special car to watch some outakes from various Warner Bros films, hosted by none other than ALF himself. Your theatrical experience is cut short, however, as the gremlins are on the loose! ALF tells you that you can escape through the WB film archives and Gizmo is here to help you get out of this nightmare.
The pre-ride video is what's most interesting (for Alf fans) though. After the bloopers have ended it shows Alf sitting in the kitchen. In the German spoken version he says: It's time to grab a snack. As he tries to lure the cat, it climbs into a kitchen cupboard, Alf reaches for the cat and instead gets attacked by a Gremlin. So is the rest of the TV Crew. I'm assuming Paul Fusco was involved in the making of this video, and that is was dubbed for the German themepark later. It would be awesome if the original English spoken version were to be found somehow.
Today someone uploaded a full video of the parkride including the pre-ride video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzsoUdo6vYg
If you don't want to watch the entire video and just want to see Alf's segment skip to 2:13.
Gremlins were great, I remember I was so terrified of those things as a kid. They do seem silly now.
But ALF here sounds rather scary and dangerous with that German sync.
Good job in finding this vid and thanks for sharing it
On the 82nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me 81 cats a-Broiling, 80 cats a-Baking,
79 cats a-Toasting, 78 cats a-Boiling, 77 cats a-Sizzling, 76 cats a-Poaching...
Anyone know what year this was? I presume post sitcom?
I think the pre-ride video was recorded in 1990 or possibly 1991. Considering Gremlins 2 came out in 1990 and ALF was cancelled in that same year. It would make sense for it to be made around when . Warner Bros Movie World Germany officially opened their doors as a Warner Bros. Park in 1996 and the park lost that license in 2004. As of now, the ride's closed down and the animatronics have either been stored somewhere or destroyed.
